Just unboxed your first record player? Here's how to go from box to music in about ten minutes.
1. Find a stable, level spot
Place your turntable on a sturdy, level surface away from speakers. Vibration is the enemy of clean sound — a solid shelf or stand works best.
2. Remove the packaging
Take off the stylus guard, untwist the tonearm tie, and remove any foam under the platter. Keep the dust cover open or closed while playing — either is fine, just keep it dust-free.
3. Set the speed
Most records are 33⅓ RPM LPs; 7-inch singles are 45 RPM. Match the speed switch to your record before you drop the needle.
4. Connect your sound
Using the built-in speakers? You're done. For Bluetooth, put the player in Bluetooth-out mode and pair your speaker or headphones. For wired speakers, use the RCA outputs on the back.
5. Drop the needle gently
Start the platter, lift the tonearm with the cueing lever, position it over the record's edge, and lower slowly. Then sit back — that's it.
Tip: If the sound is quiet or distorted, check that the stylus guard is off and the speed matches the record. Nine times out of ten, that's the fix.
